Alaskan Cruise & Excursion Packing Checklist

Alaska 7 Day Inside Passage Cruise
Summer Packing Checklist

Here is a list of items that will keep you comfortable on your 7 day Alaska Summer Cruise.

Alaska Inside Passage Cruise

 Clothing Recommendations:

  • Waterproof hiking shoes or boots (1 Pair) - Merrell and Vasque are some of our favorites for all-terrain excursions. For more moderate around-town walking, we recommend the Topo Waterproof Phantom 4 sneakers (Men | Women).
  • Walking Shoe (1 Pair) for the ship - Olukai has many styles available to keep your feet comfy aboard the cruise ship without sacrificing your personal style.
  • Travel Underwear (3-7 pair) Saxx offers undergarments that are moisture wicking, lightweight, and designed for travel convenience.
  •  Thermal underwear (1 pair) - Terramar has a great selection in mid weight thermal underwear. The 3.0 model is the warmest for the glaciers and dog sledding excursions (and shoulder season cruises where the temperature will be much cooler), while the Terramar Silk is an all-around perfect weight for everyday usage around town or on the decks of the cruise ship.
  •  Shirts for layering (3-5) - Patagonia Capiliene Tees are light for layering, while the Kuhl and Orvis flannel shirts provide more substantial layering for off-boat excursions.
  •  Pants or jeans (4 pair) - Kuhl offers lightweight, yet durable pants to keep you comfortable during excursions to both the iceberg (when layered with thermals) and rain forest.
    •  1 Fleece jacket - The Patagonia R1 Air Zip or Better Sweater fleece is the perfect weight, just put your rain jacket over this and you have the best of both worlds.
    •  1 Rain jacket (rain pants are optional) - The Patagonia Torrentshell line is lightweight and packable. Great to keep in your day pack to grab at a moment's notice to block both wind and rain.

    Accessories

    • Daypack - Ameribag, Patagonia, and Osprey all have day pack options with different features to suite your needs.
      • Pair fleece gloves
      • Insect Spray - Colman Deet or Deet Free are both good options, but for the best coverage, go with a deet insect repellent. Note: Do not spray gear/rubber pieces with deet spray, the deet will deteriorate the rubber.
      •  Sunglasses - Costa Del Mar, Maui Jim, and Bajio are all Polarized!
      •  Motion Eaze - Don't let your vacation be ruined by motion sickness! Works for road, water and air transportation.
        •  SPF Chapstick and moisturizer - The low humidity air will dry out lips and skin in no time. Be sure to have Chapstick and lotion handy at all times to prevent windburn!

Don't forget your camera to capture your incredible memories!!!
