Orvis Access Fly Rod Features and Specifications

Orvis set out to make a fly rod with the high performance and low weight characteristics of the Helios Fly Rods, but at a price that every enthusiast could afford.  The result is the Access Fly Rod.  Freshwater and Saltwater rods are within only ¼oz.  of the weight at nearly half the price of the Helios.

Technical Carbon Based Composites:  All Access Fly rod blanks contain proprietary carbon based composite graphite and also use a brand new epoxy based plasticized resin system.  All this technical wizardry means the rods are very light and very strong.  The blank uses tapers that were previously perfected with the Helios, and her-in lies a lot of the savings.  These rods use a graphite modulus that is higher than almost every premium rod on the market.  And they cast with the same power and precision, at a price that everyone can Access!

Hardware-attractive and functional:  Glossy, rootbeer, graphite blank is complimented by the woven graphite reel seat.  The milled aluminum hardware on the reel seat is anodized in champagne.  The reel seat is lightweight, simple and attractive.  Perhaps what sets this rod apart is the sunburst rod wrapping with gold tipping.  There are gold alignment ticks by the rod maker.  The snake guides are all-chrome, and the stripping guides are black anodized steel.

Orvis Access Fly Rod Salt waterSaltwater models come with two oversized black anodized stripping guides for distance casting. There is also a low profile cork/rubber fighting butt.   Super-grade cork handle-half wells shape.  Saltwater models are made from 6 weight to 12 weight.

Switch models come with two oversized stripping guides.   Fore grip is extended for spey style casting or single handed.  Butt grip is extended two hand style.   Cork is super-grade.

Divided rod tube is covered in cordura nylon.  Interior  is divided to keep sections safe, and looking brand new.  This rod tube travels beautifully.
