Chris O'Byrne, Fly Casting Instructor

CHRIS O’BYRNE

FFF Certified Fly Fishing Casting Instructor

Chris O’Byrne has been teaching and coaching for over twenty five years and has been an avid fly fisherman for over 10.  He has chased fish in fresh and salt and warm and cold waters. To him, there is nothing better than the thrill of hooking a fish on a fly!

"Fly fishing is my favorite way to get out in creation. It is very zen in that one must focus on fishing, rather than the little commotions of the day. On the other hand, fly fishing is thrilling in it's own way."

Andy Thornal Company has had the pleasure of working with Chris for over 8 years. During this time Chris has been outfitting customers for their great world-wide adventures and teaching the joys of fly fishing. He is always eager to discuss fly fishing with anyone who walks through the door.

Chris is a certified casting instructor through the Federation of Fly Fishers in addition to holding coaching certificates from several sports organizations.  He teaches in the Federation of Fly Fishers and the Hooked on Youth Fly Fishing Camps, as well as assists in the fly fishing classes offered at Andy Thornal Company.

"Teaching fly fishing is most rewarding when a student excitedly tells me the stories of their own great fly fishing adventures."

Expressing his enthusiasms, Chris has broadened his attention to writing and photography.  His work has been published here on the Andy Thornal website in the form of fly fishing blogs. Some articles and photos were published in Capt. Craig Crumbliss’ new book Fly Fishing Central Florida’s Freshwater.  Other publications featuring Chris' articles include The Journal of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, Better RVing, magazine and The Supermarket News.
